脂肪的力量(心臟病發作、中風)

脂肪百分比較高的族群(如:肥胖者、久坐不動的生活方式、不良飲食習慣)更容易發生心血管疾病。

5磅的脂肪跟5磅的肌肉相比較。相較於脂肪,肌肉更加緊實、不佔大空間。想像一下脂肪遍布我們身體的周圍,特別是我們的血管(出現斑塊/血管之粥樣腫-圖右上)。我們的血管會縮小,而何時被縮小呢?

血液流向我們的器官(如:心臟、大腦、任何地方)將受到限制,情境是這樣:

① 由於血管通道變窄,流至心臟的血流會減少。
② 位在心臟的細胞及組織會缺乏所需的氧氣及營養。
③ 當細胞及組織未獲得需求時,他們就不能做好自己工作。

想像一下,若心臟沒有適當的運作,血液如何被傳輸到身體的其它部位呢?所以呀,多個器官可能會開始衰弱。心臟本身可能也開始衰弱,這就是人們最終不得不心臟病發作(heart attack)。

有時…即使血管縮小沒有帶來太大的傷害,脂肪也會完全的佔據血管,然後異物堵塞血管,沒有營養/血液被送至軟組織,軟組織衰敗,最後心臟衰敗。同樣的事情也可能發生於大腦,稱之為中風。

Hello guys! Just in case you're wondering why people w HIGH FAT percentage (i.e. obese, sedentary lifestyle, poor diet) are more prone to cardiovascular disease! Take a look at this.. 5lbs of FATS compared to 5lbs of MUSCLE! It's insane how much space the FATS (of the same weight) are occupying in our body isn't it! Muscle, on the other hand, is very dense & compact, not taking lots of space. Right! Now, w FATS.. imagine all these fats surrounding all over our body, especially in our BLOOD VESSELS (appearing as plaque/atheroma – refer to top right pic).. Our blood vessel is going to get NARROWED!! And when it gets narrowed? The blood flow to our organs (i.e. Heart, Brain, everywhere!) will be restricted! Here's a scenario for you: Due to the narrowing passage, there's lack of blood flow to the heart ➡️ Cells & tissues in your heart LACK of oxygenated blood & nutrients needed ➡️ When they don't get their needs, they can't perform their job properly! Okay.. Stop there. Imagine when our HEART's not performing properly – how is our blood going to get PUMPED to all other parts of our body?! So yeah, multiple organs may start to fail.. The heart itself may start to fail! That's how people end up having heart attack! Sometimes.. AS IF narrowing itself is not causing much damage.. fats can also completely occupy the blood vessels.. Then BLOCKAGE happens ➡️ NO nutrients/blood reaching to tissue ➡️ the tissues DIE.. Heart failure. Same thing could happen to the brain as well. We called it Stroke! I hope now you're aware of the power of FATS. They are mean stuff so.. Please DON'T LET FATS win over you! Get rid of them by doing more exercise today – don't think twice becoz it's now or never! .
